Blast from the Past: Monster Rancher

Back in the day when Pokemon was still fresh in everyone’s mind, it’s only logical that there would be a TON of other “mon” animes out there like Digimon and more recently Yu-Gi-Oh and Bakugan.

But here was one of the more obscure ones that was riding the same bandwagon, but was individual enough on its own terms. Some of you might even own a copy of this game.

The biggest draw for Monster Rancher was the fact that you could take ANY CD you owned and pull a monster from it! Fun for what it was, but alas it could not stand up to the might that is Pokemon.

Oh man, I loved that game. Since you actually raised them and they could die, it was a lot easier to get attached to your monsters in Monster Rancher than in, say, Pokemon.
