Koreans whip up a supercar – Spirra S

Ok so it doesn’t have a sexy supercar name like Murcielago, Vanquish or you know… anything else. But if it can get 500hp on a turbocharged 2.7L V6 engine from a Tiburon? That’s no small feat! Nay, that’s almost impossibly powerful. Most impressive of this car is the weight. 2,200lbs?!? That’s only 200lbs heavier than a Lotus Elise and a good 1,800 lbs lighter than Godzilla (Nissan GT-R).
I guess we’ll have to see some real-world tests and reviews of this car, but there are a few issues in the video (after the jump) that I’d like to point out…
* It sounds absolutely horrendous. Kind of like a loud lawn mower engine chewing up my desk.
* Terrible turbo lag. In the drag races with the Ferrari and Lambo Gallardo (at 3:35 in the video), the Spirra gets completely owned in the first 200 yards of the drive while the turbo is spooling up.
* Only rolling starts? Is there something you’re not telling us? (weak transmission, weak clutch, bad turbo lag? see above.)
* And why does the video seem like it was done by a bunch of teenagers? There are some terrible gear changes in that video. Just because those kids told you they played GT4 doesn’t mean they’re awesome drivers.
These questions must be answered if I’m going to shell out $130,000 for this car which isn’t much of a looker. And who would be smiling when the power steering dies at 150mph… But then again, who can resist these Korean girls.

Video after the jump.
