Even though Urban Vinyl Art has been around since the late 1990’s (reference point: Who Let the Dogs Out music era), its still a very vibrant scene.  The art of “designer toys” originates from HK with major influences coming from djs, designers, hip-hop musicians (not of the Baha Men variety), and graffiti artists from major urban areas stretching from Tokyo to Los Angeles.  Designers spend years crafting these limited edition toys which sell for hundreds to thousands of dollars (hence requiring the adult salary).

New York artist KAWS is releasing his “NO FUTURE COMPANION” figure this Saturday, June 27th for a solid price of $980.  This figure was 3 years in the making, a collaborative work with Japanese illustrator Hajime Sorayama and produced by Medicom Toy/Original Fake. Enjoy the pics and try not to drool too much on your keyboard.
