Move over Gundam!

The Japanese don’t mess around! After constructing the 18 meter tall (59 foot tall) life-size statue of the Gundam anime robot at Tokyo’s Odaiba island from July to August which marks its 30th anniversary, they have decided to give Tetsujin (also known as Gigantor) life as well! It will be built in Kobe’s Wakamatsu Park at 60 feet tall and weighing about 50 tons. It has a projected completion date of October 4, 2009 and estimated costs are 135,000,000 yen (1.4 million USD) with 45,000,000 yen of that being paid by the city of Kobe and the rest through donations.
